A pleasant late-afternoon greeted the 10 Poky Pedalers who enjoyed yesterday’s Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnic.
Our Bike Fun started from Goerke Park as we first rode over to the new Copps food store near Park Ridge. After buying a few picnic goodies there, we took the Green Circle path south from Iverson Park under the railroad tracks and continued south on calm neighborhood streets to Koziczkowski Park (on McDill Pond just off Minnesota Ave one block north of Church/Post). The total distance from Goerke Park to our picnic spot was a smidge over 4 miles.
At K-Park (someday I’ll learn how to pronounce it correctly), we enjoyed a feast in the shade overlooking the Plover River flowing through the emptied pond.
After finishing our picnic, we completed our loop back to the start on calm streets by first heading north and west, crossing the railroad tracks at Wood St (west of Water St). We then turned east, making our way back to Goerke Park as dusk settled in. The return trip covered about the same distance.
Although 2 Poky Pedals remain on the 2012 Bike Fun Schedule (click here for the full schedule), this was the last Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnic for this year. But that just gives you another reason to look forward to 2013 and next year’s PPPP’s.
