This Saturday May 25, Bike Fun will take a cultural turn on the Streetside Abstract Sculpture Ride. Poky Pedalers will visit a half-dozen art installations around Stevens Point that are literally sitting by the side of the road.
To be part of this tour of publicly displayed creativity, meet at 12:45 PM Saturday at Goerke Park near the entrance to the pool. We’ll ride our bikes on an 11 mile loop on calm streets and paths visiting these large sculptures.
As is the nature of art, I can’t guarantee you will understand them – these are abstract sculptures, after all – but chances are you will enjoy them.
To add a bit of flair to our Bike Fun, all Poky Pedalers will become art critics for a day. Participants will have the opportunity to rank each sculpture in a few categories. Best of Show winners will be announced in the Bike Fun Report on the PPSP blog – look for it on Monday. No art critic experience is necessary. Knowledge of the numbers from 1 to 10 – or at least a few of them – is the only prerequisite for being one of our judges.
As is the case for all Poky Pedals, Saturday’s Bike Fun is free of charge. For more info, check out the listing for the Streetside Abstract Sculpture Ride here.
If you are curious about letting your child ride, see the “Are Poky Pedals Family Friendly?” FAQ page for more info.
A sunny afternoon appreciating art while riding your bike – what a great day! I look forward to sharing Bike Fun with all Poky Pedalers.
