This Saturday: Figures from Stevens Point’s past highlighted on Influential Citizen Ride

Bike Fun takes a decidedly historical twist this weekend on the Influential Citizen Ride. We will meet on Saturday July 20 at 12:45 PM in Pfiffner Park near the duck pond footbridge. The ride is a 13-mile loop on calm streets and non-motorized paths.

As part of Stevens Point’s 150th birthday celebration in 2008, a popular vote was taken to determine the ten most influential citizens in the city’s history. The Influential Citizen Ride will visit locations around Stevens Point named after these ten people. At each, a brief biography of that influential citizen will be presented to highlight their influence upon the city.

There is a rumor going around that Poky Pedalers who share in the Bike Fun will receive a set of Influential Citizen trading cards. Although I will neither confirm nor deny the rumor here, I can say that it comes from a highly reliable source.

As is the case for all Poky Pedals, the Influential Citizen Ride is free of charge. Simply show up at the starting location with your bicycle and be ready for Bike Fun.

It looks to be an exceptional day weather-wise on Saturday. The forecast is for pleasant temperatures in the high-70’s and no rain. After the recent spell of hot weather, a Poky Pedal will be an excellent way to soak up a nice afternoon.

More information can be found on the Upcoming Poky Pedals page. I look forward to sharing Bike Fun with you.
