2014 Bike Fun Calendar now available: 14 Poky Pedals from May to October

Poky Pedalers who have visited the PPSP website recently may have noticed that the 2014 Bike Fun Calendar is now available. You can find the full list of this year’s Poky Pedals here.

The third year of Bike Fun with PPSP brings the usual mix of history, art, whimsy, and scenery. Old favorites are back. A new monthly ride has been added. Enjoy a fresh collection of new themes as well as new destination selections for old themes. One encore from 2013 gives Poky Pedalers a chance to share Bike Fun they missed out on last year.

Here are some highlights from the 2014 Bike Fun Calendar:

More Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnics in 2014

  • The monthly Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnics will again bring us together to ride to mystery park locations – different each ride – where we can enjoy a feast. You can learn more about Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnics here.
  • A new monthly ride, Poky Pizza Pedals, creates Bike Fun of a different type. Starting from downtown at the end of the workday, we’ll ride a 4-mile urban loop to a downtown pizza place. Once there, we will enjoy food, beverage, and socializing with other Poky Pedalers. More info about Poky Pizza Pedals can be found here.
  • The rumors over the winter about a chocolate-themed ride were true! The Chocolate Ride is on Saturday May 24. Poky Pedalers won’t want to miss this one.

  • An encore of last year’s Influential Citizen Ride will be held on Saturday September 13. If you missed this last year, you have another chance to add to your collection of Influential Citizen Trading Cards.

And there’s even more Bike Fun planned. Poky Pedalers can enjoy a total of 14 Poky Pedals from May to October. Poky Pedals are always free, and all Poky Pedalers are welcome.

The first Poky Pedal – the inaugural Poky Pizza Pedal – is on Wednesday May 14, so you better dust off your bike to be ready for Bike Fun.

Speaking of that, Dust Off Your Bike Week is May 10-15. This week of free bike events is being presented by Point Area Bicycle Service (PABS) and Poky Pedaling Stevens Point. You can see the DOYB Week schedule here.

Poky Pedalers might want to pay particular attention to the Saturday May 10 ride: the Get That Darn Seat Adjusted Ride. John from PABS will perform minor bike tweaks at no charge. Get air in your tires, get lube on your chain, and get that darn seat adjusted. We’ll then ride a 5-mile urban ride to make sure everything is working OK. What a great way to get your bike ready for all the Bike Fun to come.

Bike Fun is so close, we can almost taste it. So check out the 2014 Bike Fun Calendar. You won’t want to miss a single Poky Pedal.
