The euphoria over last week’s Poky Pizza Pedal will hardly dissipate before your next opportunity for Bike Fun with PPSP. The first Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnic of 2014 will take place this Tuesday May 20. These monthly rides meet at 5:15 PM at Goerke Park near the entrance to the public swimming pool.
If you don’t know what to expect on a Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnic, here’s an overview. We always ride between 3 and 5 miles on calm streets and non-motorized paths to a mystery park location that is different each ride. We always stop at a food store along the way, so some Poky Pedalers simply bring cash and purchase a picnic contribution there. Other Poky Pedalers make something at home and bring it on their bikes. Once we arrive at the park, we’ll enjoy our potluck picnic feast in the company of other Poky Pedalers.
When we are finished with our picnic, we pack everything up and ride back to Goerke Park. We usually get back around 7:30 PM, so it should still be light out.
More description of Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnics, including picnic contribution ideas, can be found at this post. As with all Poky Pedals, this Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnic is free and all Poky Pedalers are welcome. Simply show up with your bicycle and share in the Bike Fun.
If you don’t have a good way to carry a picnic contribution, don’t let that stop you. We’ll find room on someone else’s bike so you can share Bike Fun with us.
The weather forecast for Tuesday is looking great. Temperatures in the mid-70’s, no mention of rain, and the sun will be peeking out between the clouds. If the forecast changes for the worse, I’ll keep Poky Pedalers updated via the PPSP blog and Twitter feed.
You can always check out the Upcoming Poky Pedals page to make sure you don’t miss out on any Bike Fun. And the 2014 Bike Fun Calendar lists all the Poky Pedals through October.
I hope Poky Pedalers are excited as I am about another season of Poky Pedaling Potluck Picnics. I look forward to sharing Bike Fun with all Poky Pedalers on Tuesday.
