I thought of filling this blog post by simply repeating “The Chocolate Ride is this Saturday!” a hundred times in order to work Poky Pedalers into a frenzy. But then I figured that anticipation for the Chocolate Ride over the past few months has probably already created plenty of Bike Fun frenzy.
We will meet for the Chocolate Ride on Saturday May 24 at 12:45 PM in Bukolt Park near the skate park. From there, we’ll ride a 9-mile loop on calm streets and non-motorized paths visiting several locations where chocolate in its various forms can be consumed.
Pacing will be the hard part. Not pacing the bicycling – that will be easy since we’ll be riding slowly as usual. Pacing the consumption of chocolate will be the hard part. I think of this more as a rolling chocolate tasting party, where chocolate might be shared among us all rather than each getting their own.
Please bring a few dollars to cover the purchase of the chocolate you plan to consume. There will be stops where Poky Pedalers do not need to pay for their chocolate. Poky Pedalers are reminded that they are not required to eat chocolate on the Chocolate Ride and may choose whether or not to eat chocolate at each specific location.
The weather forecast looks outstanding for Saturday. There should be plenty of sun, temperatures around 70 degrees, and a gentle breeze.
What could be better on a pleasant spring afternoon than riding your bike around town eating chocolate? Yeah, I can’t think of anything either.
More details about the Chocolate Ride can be found on the Upcoming Poky Pedals page. And if you can draw your attention away from chocolate for a moment, you can learn about the remaining Poky Pedals on the 2014 Bike Fun Calendar.
This is one Poky Pedal you certainly don’t want to miss. I look forward to sharing Bike Fun with lots of Poky Pedalers on the Chocolate Ride this Saturday.
