The monthly Poky Pizza Pedal for June will take place this Wednesday June 11. We’ll meet at 5:15 PM at Point Area Bicycle Service (PABS) located at 1311 Strongs Ave (between Main and Clark, one block south of Shopko) in downtown Stevens Point. The Poky Pizza Pedal is free and open to all Poky Pedalers.
John, the owner and super-duper mechanic at PABS, will happily pump some air into your tires at no charge to help smooth out your ride. (Thanks, John.) We’ll then depart on a 4-mile urban loop – a different route from last month – that stays on calm streets and non-motorized paths. Our route will end at a downtown pizza place near our starting point where we’ll share food, beverage, and conversation with other Poky Pedalers.
I won’t reveal which pizza place we’ll be ending at, but there will be other food options besides pizza if that’s your preference. Please bring a few dollars – cash is most convenient – to purchase whatever you wish to eat and drink. And if you aren’t interested in eating or drinking, you are welcome to simply sit and socialize with us.
Bringing a lock for your bicycle is a good idea for when we’re at the pizza place. We’ll lock to whatever racks are available, or simply lock a mass of bicycles to each other. If you don’t have a lock, another Poky Pedaler will be happy to lock your bicycle to theirs if you ask them nicely.
If you aren’t sure what to expect on a Poky Pizza Pedal, you can read this webpage for more info. You can also read the Are Poky Pedals Family Friendly? page for a more general discussion of what happens during a Poky Pedal.
The weather forecast looks spectacular, with sun and pleasant temps in the low-to-mid 70’s. If the forecast changes over the next couple of days, look for a PPSP blog post to check on our status.
Bicycles and pizza – that’s a perfect recipe for Bike Fun. Our inaugural Poky Pizza Pedal last month was terrific, and I look forward to sharing Bike Fun with Poky Pedalers on the next one this Wednesday.
