The inexorable change of seasons is upon us, but there is still plenty of Bike Fun to share in the weeks to come. This Saturday brings the Influential Citizen Ride, an encore Poky Pedal from 2013.

This Poky Pedal will visit locations around Stevens Point named after the ten most influential citizens in Stevens Point’s history, as determined by popular vote during the city’s sesquicentennial celebration in 2008. At each location, I’ll give a brief biography of that person, highlighting their influence on the development of Stevens Point.

If you couldn’t join us last year or you heard about it and were disappointed to miss it, this is another opportunity to experience the Influential Citizen Ride for yourself. Of course, Poky Pedalers who had so much Bike Fun on this ride last year that they want to relive that experience are more than welcome also.

The Influential Citizen Ride meets on Saturday September 13 at 12:45 PM in Pfiffner Park near the duck pond footbridge. This will be a slow urban 13-mile loop ride on calm streets and non-motorized paths. This ride is free, as are all Poky Pedals, and all Poky Pedalers are welcome.

If you haven’t been on a Poky Pedal before, the Are Poky Pedals Family Friendly? page will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. The full ride will probably last approximately 3 hours, but Poky Pedalers are welcome to merely spend an hour or two before heading off if necessary.

The weather forecast for our Saturday start time calls for temperatures in the high-50’s with bright sun and few (if any) clouds. It is shaping up to be one of those gorgeous brisk fall-like afternoons that are perfect for cruising on your bicycle.

Our Bike Fun on Saturday should provide a stimulating mix of interesting local history and invigorating conditions. Only a few more opportunities to share Bike Fun with PPSP remain on the 2014 Bike Fun Calendar, so let’s make the most of them.
