Bike Fun Report: June TGIF Dessert Ride

Last night, seven Poky Pedalers enjoyed a pleasant ride along the Wisconsin River on the inaugural TGIF Dessert Ride. A bit of rain fell a few hours before we started, yet we encountered nothing but sunny skies during our Bike Fun.

Poky Pedalers of all ages enjoy Bike Fun on the TGIF Dessert Ride

Starting from Stevens Point’s historic Mathias Mitchell Public Square, we immediately headed over to the non-motorized path in Pfiffner Park. From there, we slowly rode the calm path up to Bukolt Park, admiring the gorgeous river views. We then retraced our path and ended at Square Scoops, no more than a few footsteps from our starting location, where we drooled over the many dessert choices they had to offer.

In all, our ride was less than three miles. One Poky Pedaler, on his child’s bike with training wheels, only made it as far as the first puppy he encountered. Yet in the company of his grandparents, he enjoyed all his Bike Fun just the same, especially his ice cream cone at the end of his adventure.

The TGIF Dessert Ride was a great opportunity to be part of the crowd of people out on a Friday evening relaxing along the river and enjoying some of Stevens Point’s most beautiful scenery in Pfiffner and Bukolt Parks.

There will be three more TGIF Dessert Rides through September. Poky Pedalers can look at the 2015 Bike Fun Calendar for all the dates. It also contains lots more Bike Fun available for sharing with PPSP. So mark your calendars and keep an eye on the Upcoming Poky Pedals webpage so you don’t miss out on any Bike Fun.
