There’s another TGIF Dessert Ride this Friday evening, so make your plans to share Bike Fun on this family-friendly Poky Pedal.
The TGIF Dessert Ride meets Friday August 21 at 7 PM on the Stevens Point downtown square. (If there is an event on the square that prevents us from meeting there, we’ll meet one block north in the MSTC parking lot.) From there, we’ll ride a 3-mile loop along the riverfront path through Pfiffner Park to Bukolt Park and then retrace our path. We’ll end at a place where we can purchase dessert and share the company of Poky Pedalers.

We’ve got a good shot at observing a beautiful sunset over the Wisconsin River on the TGIF Dessert Ride this Friday
We’ll be on calm streets and non-motorized paths the entire way, and we’ll ride at our usual poky pace, possibly even pokier. If you want more information about what to expect on the TGIF Dessert Ride, you can look at this webpage.
The weather for Friday evening should be extremely pleasant, with temperatures around 70 degrees, mostly clear skies, and no rain.
Now that it is late summer, some attention to the time of sundown is warranted. On Friday, sundown is a bit before 8 PM, and a shining half-moon will be in the sky above us. Depending on cloud conditions, we have a great chance to linger and take in some colorful skies during our ride.
This also means that it will be rather dusky as we ride, so having lights on your bicycle is strongly encouraged. If you aren’t used to riding at night, this is a great opportunity to experience evening riding in a relatively safe setting among other Poky Pedalers. Lights come at a variety of price points. Although it is generally true that you-get-what-you-pay-for, even budget-priced lighting can make a huge difference when it comes to being more visible.
So let’s hope that conditions on Friday evening are ripe to provide us some stunning views of the sky. Regardless, our pleasant bike ride through scenic parks culminating in scrumptious dessert will be a great way to get the weekend going. I look forward to sharing Bike Fun with all Poky Pedalers this Friday.
